adventures in quilting

quilting mistake
Oops. Has this ever happened to you? The red polkadot strip in the backing was about 4" longer than the other backing pieces. It got folded over and caught in the quilting. The cute, circular quilting. Pretty funny, huh? I guess I will undo the stitching and requilt it. I've started putting the binding on this quilt.

Also, this morning I was pretty excited to get this quick quilt top all into one piece:
shirt quilt top finished
It is about 60"x84". I am getting batting for it tomorrow and will work on the back soon too.

Ouch, I hope you didn't say any bad words, LOL! I haven't had quilting ( mainly because I'm too scared to do anything but quilt in the ditch!) but lots of times with machine embroidery - so annoying :-(. The quilting looks lovely!

What an unpleasant surprise. Actually, like you, I did do that one time on a small quilt. I was able to carefully trim out the excess fabric and the label now covers the area!

That happened with my last quilt. It was such a pain to have to undo

Yes that happened with the quilt I'm now putting the binding on. I just sat and watched t.v while I ripped and ripped stitches.

Oh no! Yeah I've done that before... I've managed to avoid undoing the stitches by snipping the fabric reaaaally close to the stitching and then just pulling the little bits off with a tweezer or fingernails.
